Civil Rights lawyer Norman Siegel is weighing in on the cable TV dispute that has blacked out the New York Knicks and four NHL teams for 2 million Time Warner Cable subscribers.
Siegel wrote to executives at Time Warner and MSG on Friday demanding that they resolve their impasse. He called it “wrong and unfair” that fans like him can’t watch the Knicks and their breakout star Jeremy Lin.
MSG carries Knicks games as well as the NHL’s Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Sabres. A dispute over fees has prevented Time Warner subscribers from watching since Jan. 1.
The two sides met earlier this week but representatives for both said they remain far apart.
Siegel said he would ask elected officials including Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Andrew Cuomo to intervene.
