Crude oil erased earlier gains in New York and declined in London. Oil for May delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange was down 14 cents at $106.97 a barrel at 8:09 a.m. London time, after rising as high as $107.60.

Brent crude for May settlement fell 31 cents to $122.57 a barrel on the ICE Futures Europe exchange in London. The more actively traded June futures were down 40 cents at $121.93 a barrel.
